Recommendation for refrigerator control

A. Use SYL-2342
The most commonly used controller for refrigerator or freezer is SYL-2342. This controller has a 10 amp relay output. Since most house hold freezer and refrigerator draw less than 7 Amp, they can be directly connected to the controller without using any external relay for the interface. The controller has two additional alarm outputs with 3 amp rating. User can use one of them to drive a 100-300 watts lamp for the heating.

Application example
Assume you want heater to turn on when temperature drops to below 60 °F and turns off at 64 °F. You also want to refrigerator to turn on when temperature is above 69 °F and turn off at 65 °F.

Set up for the controller
1) Wiring of the controller

2) Parameter setting
a. Hy = 2.0. Set both hysteresis bands for heater and cooler to 2 degree.
b. COOL=9. Set the controller to cooling mode, no alarm suppression, Fahrenheit temperature unit display.
c. AT=0. Set the controller main output to on/off control mode for refrigerator compressor control.
d. ALM2=62. Set the low limit alarm to 62 °F. The heater (the bulb) will be on at 60 °F (ALM2-Hy) and off at 64 °F (ALM2+Hy).
e. SV=67. Refrigerator will be on at 69 °F (SV+Hy) and off at 65 °F (SV-Hy).

f. All of the rest of parameters of the controller should remain the same as the initial setting.
