This SSR is for low voltage DC applications such as thermoelectric cooler (TEC or Peltier cooler), LED illumination and low voltage DC heater. This product has two important and exclusive features: high switching speed and low on-resistance.
The high switching speed allows this SSR to be operated in pulse width modulation (PWM) mode up to 2 KHz. With PWM, a continuous linear voltage output can be obtained. The linear output can put lower stress on the load, which will extend the life time of thermoelectric cooler (TEC or Peltier cooler). It is also good for low noise application. This SSR has less than 50 us turn-on time and 100 us turn-off time, which has the highest switching speed on the market.
The main benefits of low on-resistance are:
1) Low heat generated from the SSR. Removing the heat generated by the SSR itself is difficult when passing through high current.
2) Low voltage drop. There will be negligible voltage drop at the SSR. In comparison, other DC SSRs may have 1 - 3 volt drop with a 12V power supply. The voltage drop can become a significant issue when low voltage DC power source is used.
Since the heat generated by this SSR is about 10 to 100 times less than the other DC SSRs on the market, there is no need to use a heat sink when load is less than 10A (like 12VDC 10A TEC or heater). When used with
HS25 heat sink, this SSR can handle up to 60A load. When used with
HS25ET external heat sink, this SSR can handle up to 80A load.
