· Display temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius.
· 0.1°C or 0.1°F resolution
· Heating or cooling output in either PID or on/off control mode.
· Up to 6 steps programmable cooking temperature/time profile.
· Store up to 8 cooking recipes.
· Built-in solid state relay for long lasting, fast and noise-free power switching.
· Auto-tune function that easily adapts to cookers with unknown thermal response characters.
· Industrial grade platinum RTD temperature sensor for accurate and reliable temperature measurement.
· Splash proof and durable chassis made by thick extruded aluminum.
· 15 Amp power switching capability that meets the amperage rating for most household appliances.
Operating the temperature controller is easy: Plug the load (heater or cooker) to the socket of the controller on the back, drop the sensor into the container, and power on the controller. The built-in timer allows you to set the cooking time. When finished, the controller will display END and turn on the beeper.
For Sous Vide cooking, compared to immersion circulators, this controller has a thin ribbon sensor (default sous vide cooking sensor) that can be dropped into a cooking pot with the lid covered. This greatly reduces water evaporation. Cooking sous vide with uncovered pot can cause significant water evaporation, especially for some recipes that require more than ten hours of cooking time. This also results in higher humidity in your room and makes the air conditioner work harder to cool your room. Compared to electric cookers with built-in PID control modules, our controller gives you more flexibility of choosing different sized cookers depending on the food and occasion.
This controller is based on Auber's popular sous vide controller, the WS-1500ES, with a few improvements: it has a higher resolution (0.1°C or 0.1°F) and higher accuracy. The accuracy is guaranteed to be within ±0.1°C (or ±0.2°F) for the range from 0.0 to 85°C (32.0 to 185.0°F). It has a narrower temperature control and a display range of -50 to 200.0°C (or -58.0 to 392.0°F). It has six programmable temperature control steps; each step can be set from 0 to 9999 minutes with different temperatures.
This controller is equipped with an industrial grade RTD sensor (class A Pt100 RTD sensor). It is more accurate, reliable, and offers a wider temperature range than the thermistor sensors that are commonly used in home appliances. Two sensor configurations are offered: 1) Sous vide cooking sensor (default). This sensor has a 3 ft long thin ribbon cable that is optimized for sous vide cooking. The thin ribbon cable minimizes the gap between the lid and pot resulting in dropping the wired sensor into the pot. This reduces the water evaporation during the long period of sous vide cooking. It also helps to save energy and to reduce electric bills. 2) Multi-purpose RTD sensor, which has 6 ft long, double jacked three conductor, high temperature cable. It can be used for either sous vide cooking or for smoker/oven temperature control. In addition, we offer more than 30 different configurations of Pt100 RTD sensors that cover a broad range of applications. Any of those sensors can be used with this controller if a mini RTD connector is installed on the end of the cable. If you want to use any of those RTD sensors not listed on this page, please contact us.
PT100S-PFA sensor option is offered (6 ft). This PT100 RTD sensor is insulated with fluoropolymer (PFA) on both probe and wire. It is suitable for measuring temperature in corrosive solutions such as saline, strong acid, caustic solutions and in electroplating baths.
This controller has made sous vide cooking more practical and accessible to home cooks. Great interest has been generated since its introduction in the fall of 2007. The following is a list of links that mention the original model of this controller (WS-1500ES).

Notes for customers outside North America:
- The "universal" output socket accepts either US power cord or the European CEE 7/7 cord.
- For European customers, we will ship the controller with European CEE 7/7 power input cord.
- The input power cord has NEMA 5-15P plug. International customers can by an adapter plug like this (link) from our website or from local stores. For the output socket, a two-prong EU plug can be fit in. International customers can also buy a adapter for US socket (link) or a power cord with NEMA 5-15P plug (link) and install a plug that can fit to local power strip.
-
- For countries that use 220-240VAC power line, the maximum control power of this controller is 2800 Watts.
