Gas/Propane Smoker Controller
SMD-200 & Gas/Propane Smoker
SMD-200 controller is original designed for electric smoker/heater, but it can also be used for gas/propane smoker.
Wiring notes for SMD-200:
SMD-200 can only drive an SSR (Solid State Relay). You can use this controller to drive a small SSR, then use that SSR to drive your solenoid valve. Depending on the type of your valve (DC or AC), you can either need an DC-trigger-AC SSR or DC-trigger-DC SSR. The output from SMD-200 is 12V DC. See below:
5A AC SSR (DC-trigger-AC): SRDA5
25A AC SSR (DC-trigger-AC): SRDA25
5A DC SSR (DC-trigger-DC): SRDD5
10A DC SSR (DC-trigger-DC): SRDD10
WIFI controller solution:
Currently, we don't offer a WIFI PID controller module similar to SMD-200. But you can still use our AW-1520H for the gas/propane smoker. You need to use an 110VAC solenoid valve with this controller. This controller is originally designed for electric smokers, but it can still drive 110V solenoid valves for gas/progane smoker.
Setting notes:
Two modes are recommended for gas/propane smoker:
1. PID mode (default). Default PID parameters are preset for electric heater, so it may not good enough. Please try auto-tune. For the output cycle time, please set it at least 20s.
2. ON/OFF mode. ON/OFF mode works similar to thermostat. Please set P = 1, I = 0, D = 0 and cycle time as 2s. P is the range for the hysteresis band. You can increase P value if you need larger hysteresis band.
