This circulation fan kit, CIRFAN-40, is designed for large electric smokers. Compared to the CIRFAN kit which comes with a 30 mm diameter fan impeller, this kit comes with a 40 mm diameter fan impeller to provide stronger airflow while keeping the noise level low. This kit converts your regular electric smoker to a forced-air convection smoker. The benefits of introducing forced-air convection to a smoker are many:
- Greatly reduces the temperature variation inside a smoker.
- Shorten the BBQ stall time.
- Retaining more moisture in food.
Three different configuration options are offered: single-fan kit for left-side mounting, single-fan kit for right-side mounting, and dual-fan kit for one fan on each side. Users can decide which side to mount the fan based on the space available on their smokers. The "dual-fan kit" option is good for smokers that are bigger or wider. For a big smoker, a single-fan kit can significantly improve the temperature uniformity, but the dual-fan kit will make the temperature even more uniform. The table below shows the improvement in temperature evenness when a single-fan or a dual-fan kit is installed on a Smokin-It ® #3 smoker.

This smoker is fully loaded with cardboard sheets and boxes to simulate food. There are 17 temperature probes evenly distributed in the smoker to record the temperature. The stable temperature readings of each probe were recorded, and the average temperature, standard deviation, and temperature range were calculated. Totally, 6 temperature distribution tests were run at two different set temperatures (150°F and 225°F) under three different configurations: no circulation fan, with a single-fan kit installed, and with a dual-fan kit installed.
A single-fan kit for left-side mounting includes (from top left, clockwise) a control box, a 12VDC power adapter, a fan impeller with fan, and a motor.
A Smokin-It #4 smoker installed with a dual-fan kit (internal dimension is 19" x 35" x 22", W x H x D).

Note 1: Links to the replacement parts: Fan Blade for left-mount (FB-L) and right-mount (FB-R). Silicone Bearing (CFK-Bearing) and Silicone Bushing (CFK-Bushing).
Note 2: The default mounting tube (60 mm long) only supports wall thickness up to 1.65 inches.
- If want to install CIRFAN-40 to a Masterbuilt 40" smoker, please check the wall thickness and you may need a shorter mounting tube of 50 mm long, which fits wall thickness between 1 and 1.33 inches.
- If you have a smoker with a thicker wall (up to 2.50 inches), please leave a note with your order during the online checkout process. We can supply the kit with a 75 mm long mounting tube (for a 2.25-inch wall) or an 85 mm long mounting tube (for a 2.50-inch wall).
- If you have a smoker with a wall thicker than 2.50 inches, you'll have to modify the smoker to install the CIRFAN kit.
Note 3: This kit is not compatible with a 6-rack Bradley smoker due to its limited space. Please use CIRFAN.
Note 4: The rated operation temperature for this kit is 350F. When using this kit at 400F, all the metal parts are fine for this temperature, but the silicone parts will fail after 10,000 hours of operation at minimum.
Note 5: The motor in this kit can accept voltage from up to 24 VDC. The rotation speed of this motor
generally changes linearly with its power supply voltage. If you want to adjust the fan speed, you can use
a 3 ~ 24 VDC Adjustable AC/DC Adapter.
