This plug-and-play PID controller (WST-1520H) regulates the temperature of electric smokers, such as Smokin-it®, Smokin Tex, and Masterbuilt Smoker. Utilizing a specialized PID algorithm, this controller can automatically adjust power to the smoker to compensate for disturbances from sunlight and wind. In addition, this controller holds high precision, maintaining the temperature within a one-degree interval.
Features:
- Backlit LCD.
- Programmable multi-step cooking temperature profiles.
- Durable and accurate temperature probes.
- Up to three individual probe read-outs.
This controller has three temperature sensor ports, 6 programmable steps, and an AC output synchronized with program step(s). The first probe is for monitoring the temperature of the smoker cabinet; the second probe with a pointed tip (WS-SENSOR18A) can be inserted directly into the food to monitor internal temperatures; the optional third probe serves the same purpose as probe 2 to measure internal food temperature. For cooking small sized foods or smoking the surface of the food, users can use the preset time as a reference point to finish the step. It is important to use the meat probe(s) when cooking large amounts of food because they act as a reference point to understand how long to cook the food.
For example: You can program the temperature to start at 120°F for 1.5 hours of smoking, rise to 132°F for 2.5 hours, and then finish at 190°F until the internal temperature reaches 170°F. The controller will either alarm its internal buzzer to alert you or drop the temperature to a lower set point to keep the food warm. This saves you time by avoiding manually changing the settings of the smoker after each step is completed. The synchronized AC output can be used to turn on and off the smoke generator with the program step(s). For example, you can program the smoker to dry the sausage at 140°F until the internal temperature reaches 100°F (step 1), turn on a smoker generator for 2 hours at 150°F (step 2), then turn off the generator to continue the next step.
Temperature Probe:
This controller comes with two temperature probes by default: Probe 1 (which measures the temperature of the smoker cabinet) and Probe 2 (which measures the food's internal temperature). Optional probe 3 (second food probe) is offered.
Probe 1 options:
- WS-SENSOR17: The original free-hanging probe can be fed through the top venting hole of most smokers and provides an accurate temperature reading.
- WS-SENSOR19: The wall mount probe gives the smoker controller an aesthetic and clean appearance, with a maximum mounting thickness of 0.87" (22mm).
Probe 2 & 3 options:
- Standard food probe: WS-SENSOR18A. It is a L-shape with a pointed tip. The max temperature is 570F.
- Miniature food probe: WS-SENSOR22. It has a thin and small tip, suitable for small pieces of meat, such as fish and sausage. The maximum temperature is 400°F. See more details here.
The probe 3 is optional. Please check the probe 2 option above accordingly.

Note:
1) The smoke generator output in this controller is designed to drive Bradley's original smoke generators (non-digital) or simple ON/OFF control smoke generators. For Bradley digital/smart smoke generators, an additional power cord is needed to operate them separately. You can either purchase an extra cord by checking the box for an "extra 18 AWG power cord" (NEMA 5-15P to C13 Power Cord), which is above the "sensor type option". Or you could use a regular computer power cord of your own.

2) The socket for the smoke generator is a C13 female connector which is different from the NEMA 5-15 socket for a heater. It will prevent users from mixing up these two sockets; If you need to use the smoker generator output but do not have the cable with C13 plug (Bradley Smoker already has the correct cable), you can order the optional C13 to C14 power cord. Or if you need to control a device such as a more than 10 years old Bradley smoke generator, you may need a C14 to NEMA5-15R power cord. You can order the optional power cord by clicking the "Power Cord Option" at the top of this page.
3) For customers outside of North America, this controller has a US input plug and an output socket that meet the NEMA 5-15 standard. For international order, users will need to order a separate converter to convert the connection from a local electronics store. For countries that use 220-240VAC power lines, the maximum control power of this controller is 2600 Watts.
4) The temperature sensors from Auber's previous WS/WSD controllers (such as WS-SENSOR10A, WS-SENSOR11, WS-SENSOR12 or WS-SENSOR13) are NOT compatible with this H series controller.
5) For new/beginner users who are looking for recipe examples or programming tutorials, SmokinTalk is a website built by an avid and experienced user who shares his stories on smoking with other hobbyists.
