PID Retrofit KIT for Rancilio Silvia w/ pre-infusion

A first impressions review.

I've had a Silvia for 15 years. I am not a .1g dose fusser, at the same time have done a lot of temp surfing, grind changing, pre-infusion timing etc. to try to improve the shot.

A bit of testing with the PID installed didn't show me a huge difference in the state of the machine (measured temps and times) from NOT having the PID installed.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Four shots of PID'd espresso and the difference is huge. No logged stats or record keeping going on, but three of the four shots are easily in the top 5% of anything I've gotten out of the Silvia since I've had it.

Some of the wire colors in the kit didn't match the instruction pdf. Not a huge deal. My kit was missing a hardware bit for the SSRD. Just a washer...but nothing I had on hand. That was a bit of a bother. Again, no huge deal, but everything being in the kit that should be there would work much better.

The result is the point. My espresso is much improved!
